General Booking Advice

Bookings are usually made about a week in advance, but we can sometimes take bookings at shorter notice.  It is a good idea to bring a waterproof coat, as lessons continue regardless of the weather!

Grove House Stables is a member of the Association of British Riding Schools, who recently won a substantial funding bid from Sport England, the riding school is delighted to be able to offer this jointly funded “Young Riders” scheme to local schools.

Children from any age group can take part in “Young Riders” which consists of 6 visits to our riding centre lasting for 1 and a half hours where training will be given in: Horse Riding, Stable Management and Horse Care. Pupils will be trained to the ABRS (Association of British Riding Schools) award scheme curriculum. At the end of the training all candidates will be examined and if successful will be qualified to ABRS Level 1 of Equitation Skills and Stable Management or Stage A (depending on age group). This qualification is nationally recognised and should your pupils choose to pursue a career in one of the many equestrian related careers, this qualification would help facilitate entry to further education or act as a starting block to continue their own independent training. Tuition will be given by ABRS and BHS (British Horse Society) accredited teachers, all of whom are CRB checked and First Aid qualified.

We are pleased to congratulate the first groups from North Wheatley and Sturton le Steeple Primary Schools who successfully passed the ABRS Test A in Stable Management and Equitation at the end of their 6 week course.  A full list of successful riders is available on the Exam and Competition Achievements page.

A very big welcome to a second group of riders from North Wheatley and Walkeringham primary schools who started the scheme on Tuesday 8th June.
